John Taylor, bassplayer and founding member of Duran Duran.
My "favorite" bandmember is and always was the drummer, Roger Taylor.
So I didn't think anything of meeting John. In fact, I had decided only to go for his booksigning if - an only if - I was successful in getting the book in english. I didn't really care for having to read someone elses interpretation of his words.
I bought an english copy a few days before the event.
BUT - this is what I don't get. As I arrived at the bookstore that held the event I actually started feeling nervous. I was there an hour early, and as I sat there waiting, seeing other people arrive, hearing their conversations, even being forced to communicate with some of them, my nerves got bigger and bigger.
He finally entered the bookstore. Then waiting in line was fun but also made me anxious. At the point when there were 5 in front of me for their books to be signed I felt like a silly little schoolgirl. I got to "taste" (recollect) what it was like for me to be a fan of Duran Duran at the age of 13 all over again. It was also the same anxiety that I had felt going alone to a Duran Duran concert at Valby hallen in 1987 - even though I had just turned 17 (back then I lived in Aarhus, Jutland so it was a big deal!).
I finally got to meet him, and I forgot to pose and smile to the girl holding my camera (and forgot to get him to do it aswell), so I never got a photo of me with him.
Actually, I forgot all about my camera and was about to find my seat when the girl came rushing over to me with the camera. Instead of a photo with me and him, I did get a really good spot throughout the event, so I got some really nice photos of him.
Here's a selection.
John busy signing books.
I have blurred the person who is getting his book and vinylcover signed, as I don't know the individual and I do not think it's right for me to publish a photo of him.
